A short talk given by six-year-old Rebecca Cleverly on Sunday morning, March 29, 1981, in the Primary of the Bountiful Twentieth Ward, Bountiful Utah South Stake. She wrote her talk in her journal the same day, and it was later published in the April 1981 issue of the Family Journal. Rebecca at the time was a first grader at Bountiful Elementary.
Today I’m going to talk about faith. Faith is obeying Jesus Christ, our moms and dads, and being kind to one another.
I’m going to tell a story about Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith didn’t know which church was the true church, so he went to talk with God. God said none of the churches were right. I know that Jesus made the true church through Joseph Smith.
I want to bear you my testimony, and I know this church is true. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Introduction
The Apostle Paul taught that "it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe" (1 Corinthians 1:21).
And in our day the Savior declared, "And let your preaching be the warning voice, every man to his neighbor, in mildness and in meekness" (D&C 38:41), and "it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor" (D&C 88:81).
I have delivered a number of gospel sermons through the years as either a member or a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ as Latter-day Saints. I have also spoken at the funerals of many family members and, during the years I served as bishop, at the funerals of many ward members.
Most of the time I have not spoken from prepared texts, so I have not kept a record of such sermons, unless I reconstructed them after the fact or unless they happened to be recorded on audiotape at the time I spoke. This is a collection of sermons that I do have some written record of.
In addition to the spoken sermons, I also had opportunity in some of these ecclesaistical callings (as an elders quorum president and branch presidency counselor in the 1970s, bishopric counselor in the 1980s, and bishop in the late 1990s and early 2000s) to write inspirational messages to those I was responsible for. These pastoral messages (or mini-sermons, as it were) appear as the first 33 offerings in this collection.
Also included in this collection are some talks given by my wife and children.

- I love the Lord Jesus Christ. I am grateful for my heritage as an American and a Latter-day Saint. I have lived with my wife, my best and dearest friend, for over 40 years. We have shared the adventure of 8 children and 28 grandchildren. In addition to time with my family, I love reading, writing, and taking a good road trip.
